Passed away unexpectedly at her Vancouver home.   Born in Lethbridge, Alberta Georgia graduated from the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and attended the University of Alberta and the University of British Columbia, graduating with a BA and BSW. Georgia’s Social Worker career spanned decades at the Vancouver General Hospital, including Banfield Pavilion.

An enthusiastic and experienced world traveler, Georgia followed world politics avidly and enjoyed all that Vancouver offered, particularly in the Arts and her Kitsilano neighborhood.  She was a passionate advocate for the vulnerable, animals and social justice.  More recently, she delved into her family history, and made several trips to Scotland to research her roots.

Georgia’s family and many friendships were the centre of her world, and she will be dearly missed, and that includes her quick wit and quips, and love of laughter.

Georgia is survived by sister, Margaret Wood and  brother-in-law Herb Brown, Vancouver; niece and nephews: Alison (Tim) Anaka, Kate and Ella, Calgary; Tony Brown (Wendy Cadwallader), Peyton and Evyn, Burnaby; and Stuart Brown, Vancouver.

Also in her family circle were Pam & Frank Leigh-Spencer, Braden (Amy Adams) and Torrin; Jerry & Sandi McLean; Terry McLean (Ted Snider) and Jordan McLean (Luc Francis) & Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ian and Isabel (Milton) Wood. Danny McLean and Brett McLean also predeceased her.

Donations in her memory to the Vancouver Food Bank or BCSPCA are suggested.  Virtual service to be announced later.
