George Hunter passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2023, at George Derby Care Centre. He will be remembered as a vibrant man, full of generosity and integrity. He was a lifelong seaman who began his career sailing in the merchant navy and finishing it with the BC Ferries. He always had a story to tell about his adventures around the world. He was a music enthusiast participating in Gilbert and Sullivan productions for many years.

George was born on October 23rd, 1928, in Hull, England where he attended Hull Trinity House School. He married Patricia Pulford at St Alban’s Church, Hall Road in Hull on January 10, 1953. In 1957 they immigrated to Canada choosing Vancouver as their destination.

George was predeceased by his father and mother, Harold and Fanny Louise Hunter, brother Cyril and beloved son Tim (2011). He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 70 years; his daughter Margaret Gorog (Peter), son Charlie, daughter-in-law Chenda (Mitch Harder), daughter Sarah McIntosh (Robert) and five grandchildren Aidan, Ian, Harold, Ben and Niki.

The family would like to thank Dr. Angela Hutchinson for the wonderful care provided in recent years as well as Steven and the staff at George Derby Care Centre for taking such good care of him.
