It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Christos Drimaropoulos. George left us suddenly at his home in Vancouver on Sunday September 12, 2021, at 57 years old.

Growing up in Montreal, George was a Christmas baby, born on December 25, 1963 to the surprise of his parents, Mina and John. George grew up playing team hockey and skiing in the Laurentians. He played football at Loyola, going on to play as a Running Back for Concordia University and having fun during his university years. George had many happy memories growing up with his family and spending time at the country house, swimming and skating on Domaine des Quatre Lacs (Four Lakes) in St. Adolph-d’Howard.

George moved to Vancouver in 1989 where he went on to meet his wife Janice Stevens and they married on August 27, 1994. They had 28 wonderful years together both in Vancouver and Calgary, building their home in Dunbar where they raised their kids and looked forward to many more years together with their family and friends.

George balanced his work life with his personal life so effortlessly. No matter how busy, he always made time to coach hockey, or baseball, and be involved in both his kids' lives anyway he could. We will cherish all the trips to Maui at Christmas, one of George’s favourite places, and skiing at Sun Peaks were some of the best memories of our family’s lives.

George is survived by his son Alexandros and daughter Olivia, mother and father Mina and John Drimaropoulos, brother Deno (Connie Iacono) and niece Christina, the Zissopoulos family: Tom, Athena, Demetri (Belinda), Steve, extended family, friends, colleagues, and many more. George will be remembered as a gentle man who was fiercely loyal to the people he loved, who never hesitated to help others when he could. His curiosity with the world inspired so many, and his legacy will live on in his amazing children and those who knew him. We are grateful for every minute we had with George and for all the beautiful ways he touched our lives.

Service will be held at Saints Nicholas and Dimitrios Church at 4541 Boundary Rd, Vancouver, BC. On Tuesday September 21st at 11am
