Born on September 19, 1912 in Kelwood, Manitoba, George passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving daughters on August 29, 2011 at his home in George Derby Centre, Burnaby. George was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy in 2010. He will be deeply missed by his much-loved daughters and son-in-laws, Susan and Rick, Diane and Brian, and his cherished grandchildren, Stephen and his wife Aubrey, Keith, Scott and Chloe, and his baby great-granddaughter Charlotte.

George was an optimist with a great sense of humour who enjoyed all that his life brought to him whether it was family life, work, fishing, golfing or gardening. He had a ready smile for all those he met and he was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone. Most important to George was his family whom he loved and supported unconditionally.

His family gives their thanks and appreciation to the loving staff at George Derby Centre who provided such warm and thoughtful care for him throughout his stay and for their compassion and support during his final days. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 3rd at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, 7717 19th Ave, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to George Derby Centre, 7550 Cumberland St, Burnaby, BC V3N 3X5.
