Passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 28 at the age of 89. Genevieve is predeceased by her husband Michael Angus. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Rose, children Robert (Maureen), Deborah (Kelly), Donald (Linette) and Patrick and grandchildren Kerry, Dana, David, Shannon, James, Ewan and Arianna.

Mum was born in Brandon, Manitoba on August 7, 1923. She excelled at school and was given a scholarship to attend college in the US to become a Doctor. She chose nursing instead and graduated from St Michael’s Hospital School of Nursing in Toronto in 1946.

Mum’s nursing career took her to Vancouver where she worked at Shaughnessy Hospital. She met the love of her life in August of 1955. Dad was only in town for a week and they spent every day together before he headed back to Toronto. Dad proposed at Christmas and they were married the following August. They lived for three years in Toronto before moving to BC where they settled in Richmond in a house on Diamond Road.

Mum wanted nothing more than to stay at home and raise her children however she went back into nursing in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s, she started working in Infectious Diseases on FP2 and East 10 at Vancouver General Hospital. Mum was an incredibly loving and caring woman. As a nurse, she was well respected and loved by all her patients and coworkers.

Mum retired in 1988 and took on a new role as Nana to her grandchildren. She loved her children dearly and unconditionally but loved her grandchildren even more. She taught us many wonderful things and will always be remembered as a loving example of all that is good in this world.

Mum’s and Dad’s Catholic faith was an important part of their lives and they were actively involved in Knights of Columbus activities. A highlight of her faith was meeting Pope John Paul II in Rome.
Prayers will be said Tuesday, October 2, 7:00pm at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Richmond, with viewing at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 3, 11:00am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Father David Poirier, Celebrant. Interment to follow at the Gardens of Gethsemani, 15800 - 32nd Avenue, Surrey.

A special thank you to the staff at Westminster House for all their loving care to Mum over the past three and a half years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Genevieve's name, to the Alzheimer Society of BC or one of the many Catholic Charities, will be gratefully acknowledged.

We will always love and remember you Mum. God Bless.
