Gail was born in Edmonton, Alberta.
She came to faith in Jesus at a very early age primarily through Pioneer Ontario Camp, where Paul was at Boys Camp at the same time.
He did not meet Gail until her frosh year at McMaster. She was a first year BScN nursing student at McMaster University and he was a pre-theological student. They dated for three and a half years and married in a double wedding with her sister Grace and her husband Karl Burden in 1961.
Gail and Paul moved to the inner city of Montreal and served seventeen ethnic groups in a Baptist Church. Their three children Carol (1962), Margot (1964) and David (1966) were born in Montreal.
They moved in 1967 to Halifax where Paul took up a university student ministry with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) covering the four Atlantic Provinces. In 1969, Paul became the IVCF Divisional Director in Vancouver. In 1971, West Point Grey Baptist Church was in the process of searching for a pastor and asked Paul to fill the spot in a team ministry with John Hardy. Meanwhile, Gail took courses in counselling and became involved in Inner Healing Ministry. Eventually, Gail became an associate chaplain at the UBC Hospital, a post in which she served admirably for a decade, combining her giftedness in pastoring and nursing.
They travelled with great enthusiasm over most of the globe.
Dear to her heart was involvement in the executive of the Faculty Women’s Club at UBC where she served as Corresponding Secretary and started a Bible discussion group. Gail delighted to be the matriarch of four generations. She delighted in God and His people.
Paul and Gail were privileged to be married for over sixty years.
After a brief time in St John Hospice, she passed peacefully in the presence of family.
Gail was predeceased by her parents Irma Elizabeth (nee Pierce) and George Stanley Boulter, her sister Grace (Karl Burden) and her brother Garth (Margaret Allen).
She is survived by her husband Paul, her three children Carol (Stephen Anderson), Margot (Dan Denis), and David (Kathy Thomas), her eight grandchildren, Gwyn (Jas Dhillon), Meriel (Will Ballard), and Leon Anderson, Joshua Leupold and Matthew Leupold, Michelle (Paul Treschow), Nicole (Mitch Claassen), and Allison (Isaac Zipursky), and two great grandchildren born to Gwyn and Jas; Louie and Lennon.
Gail was an extraordinary person and will be greatly missed. We believe she is with the Lord and we will be reunited someday in the Great Rendezvous.
