It is with deep sorrow and much love that we share the unexpected passing of Freda May Fransen. Our beloved wife, mother, Grandma, Auntie and friend. With her family by her side, Freda passed away peacefully on Sunday the 25th July in Richmond General Hospital. Freda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Philip; children Joel and Jillian, daughter and son-in-law Alison and Stuart, grandchildren Clive, Chloe, Jack, Lucas and Lexi, sister and brother Joyce and Leslie, sisters-in-law Susan, Margaret and Marie and her beloved nine nieces and nephews.

She is lovingly missed by her dear friend Anne Oldham who was her rock. Our family is forever grateful to Freda’s niece, Elaina who brought our family together and looked after us during this trying time. Freda touched everyone she encountered with her radiant smile and kindness. Never short of a witty story to tell, Freda will be remembered by her endless friends and family all over the world.

Philip and Freda immigrated to Canada in 1965 and worked their way across Canada, settling in Richmond in 1977. Freda had an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. She was an accomplished mountaineer, summiting some of the high peaks in Alberta. Philip and Freda enjoyed a variety of sports such as cycling, hiking and skiing. Freda lived for her family and adored watching her grandchildren grow.

Prayers, Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 3 at 3pm at St. Paul's Parish in Richmond. To send condolences, please visit:
