Frank Allan Hanson passed away peacefully on May 22, 2019 at the age of 94. He is predeceased by his sister Margaret (at age 8) and his brother Arthur. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gladys, son Frank (Kathy), daughter Marilynn, daughter Julie (Tim), sister Dorothy Duncan (Murray), grandchildren Trevor, Bobby, Tyler, Andrew, Ryan, Stephen, Aren and Kara and great-grandchildren Kassie, Kenzie, Grady and Mikey.
Frank was born and raised in New Westminster in a very loving, close family. He always spoke with fondness and humour of his childhood years. In his teens he began his lifelong passion for carpentry and construction. Then World War 2 interrupted his apprenticeship and he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force after completing high school. He proudly served his country for 4 years. On his safe return home, he bought a lot in the newly established Victory Heights in New Westminster and began the two-year project of building a family home. He met and married the love of his life, Gladys, and together they raised their three children. They were able to enjoy life in their beautiful home for over 69 years. Countless family gatherings and joyous celebrations took place in this special home through the decades. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last August. At that point, Frank was living in the George Derby Center receiving the care that he needed. Over his long life, Frank was kind and generous to so many people. He was always there to lend a skilled hand when needed to family, friends, neighbors and the congregation of Knox Presbyterian Church. Without any fanfare, he would quietly step up and do whatever work needed to be done. His kind, patient and steady way of living each day will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 14th at 12:30 at Knox Presbyterian Church in Sapperton at 403 E. Columbia Street, New Westminster B.C. V3L 3X2
