Frances passed on peacefully at age 94, after a long, eventful, and extraordinary life. Pre-deceased by husband Bill in Winnipeg, she is survived by sons Brent (Tom) and Craig (Amyra) as well as sister Edna and favourite niece Signe. Despite many obstacles, she accomplished many things thanks to her intelligence, wit, perseverance, and “proactive stubbornness.” After a successful teaching career in Winnipeg, she moved to Vancouver. She was a founding member of her co-op home “Wit’s End” and enjoyed many friends there. She proudly lived there independently to the end. In her seventies, she started taking university classes, ultimately attaining a Bachelor of General Studies. She has bequested a sum to SFU to establish a scholarship to help others. In the last decade she has greatly appreciated the stimulation she enjoyed from her time at ASK senior’s centre. Special thanks to her friends James, Tudy, Christine, and others. While Frances herself was somewhat bemused by her longevity, those who knew her couldn’t help but be amazed at her spirit, strength, and engagement with the present, despite the physical limitations of age. There will be no service by request. Private cremation.
