Having achieved the milestone birthday of 100 years last Christmas Eve, Florcia peacefully journeyed to join her Lord despite having an earthly passport still valid till 2027. Predeceased by many of the family including her husband Kazimierz (Local 97) in 2002 and her younger daughter Lilian (Pinki) in 2021, Flora leaves behind her remaining daughter Annette along with family members scattered globally in Canada, USA, Poland, and France plus many ZHP friends further abroad. Born and raised in Warsaw Poland, mother survived the atrocities of WWII and the aftermath. Her love of numbers led to her career of accounting, including working in Naczelnictwo before immigrating to Canada (Pier 51) by Stefan Batory and continuing via train to Vancouver in 1958. She married Kazik in 1960 and had her two daughters in subsequent years. Florcia’s love of numbers continued in Vancouver (according to her, numbers are the same universally). She worked as a bookkeeper and volunteered as treasurer in various Polish organizations over the years including being involved in ZHP again and earning the title of Druhna Mama to many. Her longest stint at volunteering was at St. Casimir’s Church, going down weekly for over 40 years to keep the parish books straight. Mama enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and daily sudoku puzzles till her eyesight started failing though she was still quick to point out any mistake anyone would make. Baking (piernik anyone?), sewing and especially knitting interested her as it involved numbers. Mother was always happy to travel when asked (especially if someone else did the planning) and she made good use of those many passports over the years logging in one last church pilgrimage to Fatima and Lourdes at age 91, New York city at age 96 and a last road trip to Christina Lake at age 97 where she enjoyed piloting a boat albeit at the lowest speed. She moved to Kopernik Lodge in 2020 shortly after a significant fall and prolonged hospital stay. The family would like to thank all the staff at Kopernik Lodge for making her remaining years comfortable and safe especially during the covid pandemic. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations to the Kopernik Lodge www.kopernik-foundation.org.
