Filippo Mainella passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Burnaby, B.C. at the age of 87.  He is predeceased by his loving wife Maria Chiara, his brothers Michele and Felice.  Filippo will be lovingly remembered by his sons Frank (Antonia) and Mario (Sheri), his adoring grandchildren Nicoletta (Luigi), Filippo (Jessica), Chiara and Gabriella, along with many extended family members and friends.

Filippo was born in Acquevive di Frosolone, Isernia, on April 24, 1937 to Francesco Mainella and Angela Venditti.  He came to Canada in 1959, and worked hard to establish a good life for his family.  He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, honour and integrity, and was a father-figure and mentor to many that had the privilege of having him in their life.  Although Filippo was known to be a man of few words, his trademark was expressing himself always with kind words and a dry sense of humour, which were appreciated by all who knew him.  He was an incredibly caring and loving son, brother, father, nonno and friend to all.  He leaves behind a huge void that will now be filled with the many beautiful memories he created with us all.  Rest in peace papà.  Mamma has been waiting for you, and now you can dance “La Molisana” with her in heaven.

Prayers will be offered at St. Helen’s Parish 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm.
