Evelyn Mae Rodney (nee Harris) passed away peacefully on the morning of February 18th, 2022 at St. Michael’s Hospice Centre in Burnaby.

Born August 27th, 1930 in Ponoka, Alberta, she was the eldest child of Irvin and Alice Harris, and one of Sam Rimbey’s many grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, John Rodney in 1987; sisters Shirley and Margery; brothers-in-law Gawney Hinkley and Milton Fenske; brother-in-law William Rodney and wife Helen.

After graduation, she moved to Calgary where she met John, the love of her life, and together they moved around southern Ontario, to Montreal, and eventually to Vancouver. In their last few years together, they spent many months based in France and the Netherlands, travelling throughout western Europe, and taking long walks along the English Bay seawall. More recently, she enjoyed re-connecting with Harris relatives in Wales who formed a small community around the preservation of Gilgal Chapel near Usk.  She also valued staying connected with her Ponoka classmates of ’48 who celebrated their 70th reunion just a couple of years ago.

Nana will be missed by her daughter Elyn (Jim); grandchildren Joel, Joshua, Timothy, Alicia (Fallon), and Lawrence; great-grandson William; brothers Garry (Ethel) and Ron (Sharon); many nieces, nephews, family and friends around the world. And of course, by dogs Max and Ranger.

No service by request.

Donations to the SPCA of your choice in memory of her best dog Tippy would be greatly appreciated.
