Erin Nicole Breckon

December 27, 1977 — April 2, 2025

NEW WESTMINSTER

Erin Nicole Breckon, a beloved partner, mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, at the age of 47, after a courageous six-year battle with metastasized breast cancer. She was a warrior, embarking on new motherhood almost at the same time as her cancer diagnosis, as well as the onset of COVID; she brought all of herself to the task of living her life to the fullest in the midst of chaos. She was surrounded by the love of her family and chosen family in the palliative care wing of Burnaby General, where she declined so quickly in the course of just one week, due to her damaged liver.

Born on December 27, 1977, in Prince George, BC, Erin was the daughter of Anna Breckon and the late Larry Breckon. She was blessed with two brothers: Matthew (partner Jantina), father of her beloved nieces Alex and Avery with Melanie Breckon, and Jonathan (deceased). Erin was also the step-daughter of Ilona and shared a bond with her children—Hannah, Michael, and Luke. She is mourned by her extended family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins in Prince George, Victoria, and Newfoundland, where she spent several years of her childhood.

Erin leaves behind her beloved partner, Mike Fiorentino, and their cherished son, Micah Gabriel. She is also remembered by her sister-in-law Angie, her husband Shawn, and their three boys—Jaxon, Lenox, and Maxwell. Erin’s love for her family ran deep, a quiet, steady flame that never wavered. She treasured the life they built together over two decades—filled with laughter, wonder, and unforgettable journeys. From the sun-soaked streets of Italy and the vibrant shores of Thailand, to the ancient beauty of Croatia and Greece, and the wild serenity of countless Northwest camping trips, each adventure was a chapter in a story she held close. Their annual pilgrimages to the Gorge Music Festival were a rhythm of joy in the soundtrack of their lives.

Erin carried an adventurous spirit—a quiet longing to seek, to learn, to create. In high school, her journey took her to France through a study-abroad program, where she deepened her love for culture and discovery. She followed her passion for performance to Capilano University, enrolling in the Acting program, and later honed her artistic craft through the study of Make-Up Artistry at Blanche MacDonald.

Behind the scenes, Erin brought stories to life—working alongside Stacy Butterworth as a wig artist in motion picture and television, and contributing her talents to the vibrant worlds of the Children’s Festival and the Folk Festival. Her work was meticulous, imaginative, and full of quiet magic.

In her 30s, Erin felt a deep calling—to hold space for others, to listen, to heal. She began a new chapter, pursuing a bachelor’s degree and then a master’s in clinical psychology, answering that quiet inner voice with determination and grace. She started by working the phone lines at the Crisis Centre, offering calm and compassion to those navigating their darkest hours. Before the birth of her son, she joined a cancer support health organization, where she was finally able to sit with clients of her own—bringing warmth, empathy, and insight to those who needed it most.

Erin was a pure light in this world. She saw things clearly—deeply perceptive and never afraid to call bullshit when she saw it. She was outrageously down to earth, always honest, and never shy about sharing her struggles or the so-called “ugly bits.” People were drawn to her—there was something healing about simply being in her presence. Her warmth, her sharp wit, her way of making you feel seen.

She loved camping under the stars, dancing without hesitation, and sculpting with fibre, letting her hands shape what words couldn’t always express. She found joy in the simple things—gardening with her husband, laughing and playing with her son, walking slowly through the woods, taking it all in.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Erin’s life will be held at Kearney Funeral Services on Tuesday, April 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A private gathering for immediate family and closest friends will take place beforehand. We kindly ask that only those individuals attend the private portion, and invite the broader community and all who knew and loved Erin to join us beginning at 5:00 PM for the celebration.

For immediate family members unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available here .

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family has set up a GoFundMe in support of Micah and his future endeavours. Contributions are deeply appreciated and will help honour Erin’s memory by supporting what mattered most to her—his bright and beautiful path ahead.
