Walton, Eric McLean – passed away January 30, 2020. Eric was born on 19th September 1924 to Thomas Newton Walton and Grace Walton (nee McLean). Growing up in Byker (a suburb of Newcastle upon Tyne) England his first career was as a baker in a local bakery shop. In 1942, with World War 2 was at its highest point, Eric now 18 was conscripted into the army and joined the Coldstream Guards. Eric's tenure continued with the Royal Army Service Corp as a Staff Car driver in London. Following his Service years, Eric moved to Australia (mining) and subsequently Canada, first in the Yukon with mining, and then Vancouver with hotel security. Eric’s hobby was his ham radio and he would spend late nights and early mornings talking to other radio ham’s around the world. Eric was just a great guy and will be dearly missed.
