Elizabeth Rose Richards (nee Duchak), age 73, passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2019, surrounded by her daughters. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
Betty was born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan on January 5th, 1946 and had a healthy, joyful upbringing on the family wheat farm. After high school, she moved to BC where she married and settled in Vancouver. Over the years she lived in several cities in the Lower Mainland while raising her 4 daughters and working full time. For most of her career she was a Dry Cleaner, at times owning her own business, and thus instilled in her girls, her strong work ethic.
In 1997, she moved to Whistler to manage Dual Mountain dry-cleaning plant, and has called it home ever since. The friends and relationships she has developed there over the years have meant a great deal to her and have become her extended family.
In addition to spending time with family, Betty enjoyed the “occasional" trip to the casino, reading, walking, playing cards, and shopping.
Throughout her life there were challenges. With the love and support of her family, she was able overcome these, enabling her to build much more resilient and meaningful relationships with her daughters and their families.
For Betty, her daughters were her greatest achievement and in the last five years she became very close with them.
Betty is pre-deceased by parents George and Adelaide Duchak, Brother Ken Duchak and wife Anne, Husbands Gerald Linley, Brian Richards.
