COQUITLAM, B.C. – ELIZABETH ROSE BENTLEY (nee CALLAGHAN) passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2024 at the age of 71 from pneumonia. Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Dorothy CALLAGHAN (nee LOW) and her niece Amy. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Doreen Dewell (Anthony), Joyce Rostron (Gary) and Barbara Callaghan. She will be missed by nieces, Sarah, Leanna (Patrick) and Tanya (Mark), and grandnephews Elliot and Rhys. Elizabeth will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family.

Elizabeth was born January 31, 1953 in Belleville, Ontario. Her childhood days in Belleville were filled with many wonderful memories and happy times. She made friends easily due to her out-going and friendly personality. Elizabeth cared about people, and had a wonderful ability to remember names and numbers. She was a true fan of all thing’s hockey, insofar as being a part of a girl’s hockey team when the family moved to Victoria. She especially was fond of animals, including cats, horses, her pet turtles and budgies.

Unexpectedly, Elizabeth’s health became compromised in her mid-teens. Even though her remaining life was challenging at times, she remained determined and steadfast in her ways to do the best she could. While living in Maple Ridge, she was encouraged by her healthcare team to volunteer at the local clubhouse, attend fun activities during the holidays, participate in Mental Health Walks, and enter her paintings into an Art Show. That was one of her proudest moments. She would be so excited when family came to visit because family was important to her and very supportive right up to the end. She passed away surrounded by loved ones at her bedside at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody.

Special thanks to the staff and medical teams from ERH, Connelly Lodge, Pleasant View, Trejan Lodge and Haven Guest Home. The family will be holding a private service in the city of Victoria.

The family has requested that contributions in her memory are welcomed and can be made to a charity of your choice.

RIP dear Elizabeth. Forever loved, never to be forgotten.
