In loving memory of Myra, who passed away peacefully at her home on July 20, 2023, after a brief and unexpected illness. She leaves behind her beloved parents, Sheila and Will, her dear brothers and their wives, Ewan (Cindy), David (Lael), and Ron (Patsy), 11 cherished nieces and nephews, along with uncles, aunts, cousins, and many lifelong friends around the world.

Myra was a vivacious and outgoing woman who found joy in every facet of life. She was born and nurtured in a loving home in Vancouver's Dunbar-Southlands neighborhood, attending Southlands Elementary and Point Grey Secondary schools. Throughout her youth, she embraced a dynamic life filled with friends, sports, church youth events, summer camps, volunteering, enriching travels, and outdoor adventures in southwestern BC.

A gifted athlete and sprinter, Myra excelled in Varsity Track at UBC, where she later graduated with a degree in elementary education. Following her time as a supply teacher, Myra combined her love for children, exploration, and her independent spirit by embarking on a fulfilling journey as a professional nanny. Her path was enriched by travels with friends and meaningful ministry trips to Haiti, Mexico, and Estonia, embodying her deep-rooted compassion for those in need.

In Vancouver, she channeled her creative spirit through quilting, poetry, letters, and Israeli dance. Israel and its people found a very special place in Myra’s heart, and she spent many seasons there, after working hard in Vancouver to earn money to fund the next trip to Israel. This became the pattern of Myra’s life for the better part of fifteen years as she found herself drawn back to Israel time and again. No matter the circumstances, Myra was always filled with a profound zest for life and tremendous gratitude for God’s goodness, tirelessly spreading His message of love and compassion for all. Her resilience and unwavering joy illuminated even the darkest days, a testament to her unshakeable trust in God's love.

A major transition point came in 2014, when Myra returned to Vancouver and began the next phase of her life, characterized by stability and contentment. In the years since then, she found solace among her family and friends. These years were very special for her family and were filled with many occasions of love, joy, and laughter. Myra relished the many precious moments spent with her nieces and nephews.

A private family committal service was held in late September 2023. We remain eternally grateful to God for the gift of Myra's life and the immense joy and love she brought into our lives. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers during this time of sorrow. Myra's remarkable strength, courage, and profound love for Jesus will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. While she will be deeply missed, we know that she has found her eternal rest in the loving presence of Yahweh and that she dances there in worship and adoration.
