Best, Elizabeth (Betty), (nee Rose)

Betty Best passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 101 at the Royal Columbian Hospital, the same hospital she was born in over 100 years earlier. Betty was a lifelong resident of New Westminster. She grew up in Sapperton with her brother, Jack, and sister, Helen. She attended McBride Elementary and helped her dad at his butcher shop in Sapperton. After finishing school, she worked at BC Electric. While working there, she met the love of her life, Harold Best, and together they owned and operated Best Electric on 6th Street and later another store on Columbia Street. Betty lived her many years to the fullest – supporting the Eagles Club, bowling, golfing, relaxing in Birch Bay, and visiting her daughter in England.

Betty will be remembered most of all for her many different roles: Mom, Grandma Best, and GG. Betty is survived by her two children, Sharron and Wayne. Her grandchildren, Sarah, Adam, Lisa, Daniel, David, Patrick, and Emma. Her great-grandchildren Sybil, Finley, Darcy, Sam, Kai, and Maya.

Betty was as sharp as an arrow every day of her life. She loved to be around people, visit IHOP, and cheer on the Vancouver Canucks. She cared for everyone and always put others first. Betty will be deeply missed by all those she knew.
