At 5:11pm on July 30, 2019, Eliza Navo-Kalaw passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends at the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice in Richmond, BC. A few days shy of her birthday, Eliza left this world following a battle with metastatic breast cancer at the age of 43. She is survived by her loving husband, Stefano Kalaw.
An Interior designer by trade, Eliza rose from the ranks of her design firm, starting as an administrator and ending her tenure as a junior designer. With a courageous spirit, creative flair and love of people, Eliza started her own company, Navo Design Inc. There, she created beautiful sought-after homes and, with a tremendous gratitude for all her blessings, positively impacted many of those she worked with.
The youngest of five siblings (brother Aldrin and sisters Evelyn, Joan and Arlene), Eliza lived a full life with a strong faith in God. Amidst her terminal illness, Eliza didn’t merely exist and survive, but thrived, inspired and loved. Fully supported by her family (the Navos and the Kalaws) and her many friends, Eliza fought a good fight until her very last breath. Finally, at rest from her pain, Eliza has now vacated her earthly residence and moved to her new home in Heaven with her Lord and Master, Jesus; a home, we assume, that has the best possible design and finishes she could ever dream of!
Eliza will forever be remembered and loved by her mother, Amelia, her husband, Stefano, her siblings, her family and her friends.
To say farewell to Eliza, a viewing will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Parish Catholic Church 8891 Montcalm Street, Vancouver on Thursday August 8, 2019 between 6:00pm and 10:00pm with prayers at 7:00pm. The funeral mass will take place on Friday August 9, 2019 at 10:30am at St Anthony’s. Immediately following the funeral mass, Eliza will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery 15800 32nd Avenue, South Surrey.
