Forever in our hearts

Elfreda Alice Elizabeth Ramsbottom - born in Perth, Western Australia November 18th, 1936.  She was the youngest daughter of Harold and Mary Biffin, sister to Barbara and John.  She grew up in a variety of rural towns and worked in the bank before leaving Australia for the adventure of a lifetime.  In 1965 she embarked on the ship “Oriana” for Canada.  She met Vincent Ramsbottom at a picnic on Toronto Island, they were married on April 11, 1966 and he was the apple of her eye for 54 years.

Elfreda was a loving, generous, vibrant woman with an incredible sense of humour, an insatiable zest for life.  Right up until the end she loved chatting, telling stories and laughing with everyone she met.  She had such a passion for the arts, gave the gift of music to her children and ensured the arts were at the centre of her life.  Elfreda was an outstanding, doting grandmother to Max, Jaime, Ella and Abbey,  all of whom she adored.

On February 26, 2020 Elfreda passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.

We will miss and love you forever.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me, I’m free,

I’m following the path God laid for me.

I took his hand when I heard his call,

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work, to play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I’ve found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I savored much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me,

God wanted me now, He set me free.
