ALLAN, Eileen Mary (nee Jones) RPsychN.  Eileen passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2019.  She was born June 2, 1917 in Tilston, Manitoba, the daughter of Catherine Almira (nee McDonald) and Edburt Ira Jones. She was the younger sister of Ira Jones and older sister of Helen (Mrs. George Anderson), Eleanor (Mrs. Kenneth Wilde), Pearl (Mrs. Roy Granger) and Doris (Mrs. Russ Granger). Eileen was raised on her parents farm in Tilston during the difficult years of the Great Depression, which made her quiet, hardworking, thrifty, and incredibly kind and compassionate towards all living beings.  In 1937, she began her training for, graduated, and practiced as a Psychiatic Nurse at the Brandon Mental Hospital in Brandon, Manitoba  After meeting her future husband Ted Allan from Edmonton (a distinguished RAF Pilot who was at the time a BCATP Flying Instructor) at a dance at the nurses residence in Brandon, the two were married in 1941.  They eventually settled in Vancouver, BC where Ted was based as a Captain with Canadian Pacific Airlines.  Eileen raised her family while enjoying her garden and practicing her hobby as a talented master dressmaker.  She was a Lifetime Member of the Daughters of Nile, Zarah Temple, No.72.  Eileen is survived by her daughter, Dr. Margaret (Peggy) Allan, PhD (Dr. Allen Heimann, MD); her beloved grandson, Matthew Allan, PhD, JD, of College Station, Texas; her younger sister Eleanor, as well as, many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will likely be held in Eileen’s hometown of Tilston, Manitoba at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to Fighting Blindness Canada (fightingblindness.ca) would be greatly appreciated.
