She was definitely one of a kind!! Edythe will forever be loved, cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege to know and love her. As a social butterfly and genuine lover of people, Edythe was a consistent and welcomed energy on Granville Street. It wasn’t unusual to see her enjoying a night on the town or partying at the Roxy till the wee hours and still be up early enough to be first in line for the Army & Navy Shoe Sale.
As the family matriarch and historian, Mom was a wonderful storyteller who prided herself on the people that meant the most to her, her Family! Ever proud of her Prairie upbringing, she stayed true to her roots while still becoming a classy and savvy business woman who loved to travel. She loved the big city but was most proud of being born in Regina, Saskatchewan and being raised in the town of Kendal.
All those that knew and loved her are invited to come and commemorate her amazing life as the family hosts a funeral service on Wednesday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Kearney Funeral Services, 450 West 2nd Ave in Vancouver that will be followed by a Celebration of Life at Doolin’s Irish Pub 654 Nelson Street from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Keeping her safe in their hearts are her beloved children, Blaine and Laurel who were by her side as she parted peacefully; granddaughters, Chelsea (Cadeyrn) and Robyn (Cole); and great grandsons, Cayse and Cavan; as well as extended family and countless friends she has made throughout her 99½ years. Comfort can be found in the thought that she is reunited with her precious son Wayne and the love of her life, husband George.
Flowers, condolences and gestures of kindness are all greatly appreciated and can be sent directly to the funeral home. We will miss you Edythe.
