Ed grew up in Calgary and graduated from UBC in 1960. Beginning in the early 1960’s, Ed spent most of his business career working for MacMillan Bloedel in New York City. Ed, along with a small group of Canadian colleagues, introduced MB dimensional lumber and specialty building materials to wholesalers and distributors along the Atlantic seaboard. Ed prided himself in being an immaculate dresser, always appearing at work in a freshly starched Brooks Brother’s shirt and perfectly fitted suit, always topped off with a gray stetson, the signature of a successful New York business man in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
Ed spent his summer weekends visiting friends in the Hamptons where he enjoyed playing rousing sets of tennis. On winter weekends, Ed could be found in Vermont conquering the icy slopes of Bromley, Stratton, Killington and Snow mountains. Ed was always one of the most accomplished skiers in his group.
In 2001 he moved back to Canada, first to Canmore, Alberta where he made new friends. He then moved to Vancouver’s where he reconnected with old friends and enjoyed the quiet life. He is remembered as a gentleman and a loyal companion and is sadly missed.
