It’s with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward (Ted) Duncan. Ted was born on September 26, 1933 to Jean and William in Barrie, Ontario, and passed away at Royal Arch Masonic Home in Vancouver on April 7, 2023 after a long illness.
Ted attended UBC where he played Thunderbirds football while obtaining his BA and LLB. Ted proudly went on to play for the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders in the CFL.
It was also at UBC that Ted met the love of his life, Sheila Swinarton. They married in 1956 and had two children, Cyndi and James. They were blessed to have six granddaughters, Michaela, Alexandra, Rylie, Stephanie, Lindsay and Jennifer.
Ted worked as a lawyer in BC and Alberta before jumping into countless entrepreneurial adventures.
Ted is predeceased by his wife Sheila, his sister Pat, and good friend Rae Ross. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, brother Dennis and sister-in-law Nancy as well as his nieces and nephews. Special love given to his niece Wendy and her family who provided incredible kindness to Ted in his final years. Also to the kind nurses and staff at RAMH who took such good care of Ted.
