After 90 years Edith, the keeper of her flock, passed gently away on June 18th, 2009. Originally from Vienna, Austria, she fled during WW11 to England where she met her future husband, a striking Canadian soldier who would woo her with his quiet charm. After marrying in England, they started a family and Viennese restaurants in England, Montreal and Nova Scotia, until finally settling in Vancouver in 1966. Edith was an entrepreneur, a business woman in the stock market and a maverick. Forward thinker, insightful and nurturing, she was always present for others. She has left us with her legacy of wisdom and empathy. She will always remain in the memories of her loving husband of 62 years, Charlie, and her devoted children Eric, Yvonne, Christine, Angelina and Percy, Anita and Larry, Veronika and Anthony and nine grandchildren. At Edith’s request, a private family gathering will take place. The family deeply appreciates the attentive care she received at Windermere Care Home.
