On February 8, 2023 Ian slipped from the loving arms of his wife into the waiting arms of his God after spending  7 weeks in Royal Columbian Hospital.

Ian was predeceased by his first wife Cynthia, his parents George A. and Georgiana and his 11 brothers and sisters of which Ian was the youngest.

Beltran Rivers, Signa Richardson, Sylvia Nicholls, Thelma Annisette, Lance Rivers, Enid Burkett, Nina Rivers, Kerwyn Rivers, Joe Rivers, Doris Rivers and Elucta Rivers.

Ian is survived by his second wife Lynda (Bell) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friend Steve Mostrenko.

Ian was born in Manzanilla, Trinidad and attended school and college in Port of Spain.

Ian received his Medical Degree from the University of British Columbia and has maintained a lifelong friendship with the members of his Graduating Class.

Ian had a General Medical Practice on Columbia Street in New Westminster where he enjoyed the practice of medicine, his patients and the many babies he delivered. A special acknowledgement to Carol his wonderful medical office assistant.

Ian enjoyed many years as a member of St. Michaels Choir and his deep voice resounded through the church.

Ian was a 50+ year member of the Vancouver Golf Club and greatly enjoyed his games, friends and the many memories from those wonderful years.

Ian was a long standing member of the Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Society (TTCSBC) and enjoyed many Carnival Parties and dances with the group.

We would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff on 5 North at Royal Columbian Hospital for their thoughtful and kind care during his time there.

We would also like to thank Monsignor Bernard Rossi for his phone calls and visits to Ian in the hospital, it gave us both great comfort.

A celebration of Christian Burial Mass will be held on February 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the PARISH OF SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

Reception to follow immediately after the service in the church hall next door.

No flowers by request, donations can be gratefully made to the “Union Gospel Mission” in Vancouver, a charity that Ian was a strong supporter of for many years.

Interment will follow in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
