Don Allchurch passed away on Good Friday, he was 88. Don was born in Montreal and grew up in Lachine, Quebec. In 1966 he moved with his wife and 1-year-old son Derek from Quebec to Calgary, where his second son, Craig was born in 1967. After qualifying as a Registered Industrial Accountant (RIA later CMA), Don spent most of his career as a cost accountant. During his time in Calgary, he also worked as a Land Man, his last position was as a Land Man was with Koch Oil Canada. Don lived in Calgary until 1986 when he moved to Vancouver. For the last twenty-four years he was a resident of Menno Court on East 41st Avenue.
Don was an avid downhill skier. He cherished his time as an active member of the Petroleum Ski Club in Calgary and the 4T+ Ski Club in Vancouver. Don was even more passionate about golf having played over 300 golf courses in Canada and the USA. His fondest memories are his hole-in-one at Banff Springs and his glory years as a low handicap amateur golfer at the Farnham Golf Club.
Don is pre-deceased by his parents: James Allchurch (1994) and Aline Allchurch (2006). Don spent many happy years travelling to and from North Port, Florida to spend time with his mother at Harbor Cove.
Don is survived by his two sons Derek (Shelley) and Craig, along with his two grandchildren, Alyssa and Devon. In lieu of flowers donations to the Mennonite Senior Citizens Society of Vancouver in Don’s name would be greatly appreciated.
