Diane (Dede) Jamieson

After an 18-year battle with dementia, Dede passed away on November 3, 2018 at 66 years of age.  Dede was a good friend, wife, daughter and sister, who could always be counted on by the people in her life.  Dede is remembered for a mischievous smile that was infectious on anyone who experienced it.   Prior to dementia taking over her life, Dede lived a full, rewarding life, graduating from the University of Manitoba, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and then going on to become a registered nurse.  Dede got to travel extensively; was a voracious reader; maintained a lifelong love affair with British Leyland sports cars; and, had a fulfilling career, including 7 years as a registered nurse in the spinal cord unit at Shaughnessy Hospital and a successful career in medical sales.

Dede left behind a husband, Gerry Matier; two sisters, Donna Guthrie and Debbie Wright; five nieces and nephews; her cousin (and good friend), Jo-Anne Trigg; and two great friends: Susan Dziubenko and Mary Ann Moore, who supported her through her lengthy illness.  Dede’s intelligence, strength and determination highlighted everything she did in her life and played a big part in helping her face the challenges that came with living with dementia.  Dede was a nice person and is missed.

Dede’s family wants to recognize DeltaView Habitation Centre, with a special thanks to the wonderful staff in Garden Grove, who provided Dede with great home for 11 years.   For those who wish to remember Dede, please consider a donation to the Delta View Volunteer Society or the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
