The death of Dermot Leo Tyrrell, 89 years, of Abbotsford BC, occurred at Christina Morrison Hospice in Mission, BC, on Thursday June 6, 2024.
He died peacefully after battling cancer. Dermot is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Emily Ann Palma Coppola, who grieves him deeply.
He also leaves to mourn the profound loss of him, his four children and their spouses: Damian (Jeanne) Tyrrell of Surrey, BC; Pascal (Inga) Tyrrell of Portland, Oregon; Judi (Len) Goerke of Abbotsford, and Joanne (Ebi) Fazzari of Abbotsford.
He was the best Grandad and Great-Grandad to: Ryan (Elise) Tyrrell of Langley- Evelyn, Declan, Margaret, and Anna; Colin (Kirsten) Tyrrell of Surrey – Charlotte and Isabelle; Julia (Sam) Jory of Vancouver; Liam Tyrrell (Angela Yung) of Surrey; Misha Kemp of Portland, Oregon; Raymond Goerke (Bess Doyle) of Vancouver; Caitlin Goerke of Abbotsford; Elizabeth Fazzari of Abbotsford – Dominik, Elios, Selene; Patrick Fazzari (Daniel Rowden) of Abbotsford.
He also leaves to mourn many other extended family members and friends. Dermot was the last of his immediate family, predeceased by his father Andrew Tyrrell (1944), his mother Eileen McSweeny (1989), his sister Carmel Dowling (1999), his brother Walter Tyrrell (2010), his sister Marie Shiels (2003), and his sister Georgina Miller (2014) and their spouses, all of Ireland.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 18 at 11 am. at St Matthew’s Church – 16079 88 Ave. Surrey, BC. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Interment will be Wednesday, June 19 at 10:30 am at the Gardens of Gethsemani – 15694 32 Ave. Surrey, BC. Flowers gratefully declined.
