It is with great sorrow that we announce, Dennis Fong, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 71 in Vancouver, BC, on the morning of February 28, 2020.
Dennis was born on December 19, 1948 in Toishan, Guangdong, China. When he was 10 years old, he went to Suva, Fiji and attended St. Columba’s and St. Felix Primary schools, and Marist Brothers High School. He married Kitty and they settled in Suva, where he worked for National Cash Register (NCR). They immigrated with their first daughter to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1980, and Dennis worked as a technician at United Cash Register. The family later relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1987, where he worked for Memorex Telex and later Brains II. Dennis spent many years building and repairing computers and laptops; in his retirement years, he also made several shipments of used computers to Fiji.
He is deeply missed and survived by his father, Kwong Lap Check, loving wife Kitty, three daughters; Raewyn (Ross), Karen (Andrew), and Sandra; four grandchildren; Aveline, Karis, Elliot, and Rachel; sister, Ping (Fei), and three brothers Ken (Maggie), Albert (Lee), and Tony (Raemee), and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 9th, 2020 at Kearney Columbia-Bowell Chapel, 219 6th Street, New Westminster. A reception will follow at 1 p.m at Fortune City Seafood Restaurant, #302 - 2800 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver.
