David (Lok Kok Hua) Lukita left his temporal home on earth to be eternally with his lord and saviour Jesus Christ on March 14, 2022. David was born in Bandung, Indonesia on February 2, 1949 and spent his childhood in both Indonesia and Singapore with his parents and 4 siblings. After high school David moved to Edmonton, Alberta for University where he completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering. It was also there that he met the love of his life, Walia Halim, and built lifelong friendships with people from his young adult fellowship group at the Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church.

After finishing university David and Walia moved back to Bandung, Indonesia and were married. Together they had 4 children – 1 daughter and 3 sons. David worked in the family business in the garment industry, with his wife and siblings at different times throughout his career. He had a strong relationship with Jesus and was very involved in different ministries including serving on deacon boards, teaching Sunday school and translating for multilingual church services, to name a few. In Bandung at his church, Gepembri Bandung, he was an Elder and for a time, when he lived in Calgary, Alberta, he helped to establish the Mandarin congregation at the South Calgary Chinese Evangelical Free Church.

In his retirement years David loved hanging out with his grandchildren and talking with them about the activities in their lives. David had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. He will be remembered by all those who knew him as someone who brightened a room with his humor. David was taken from his family quite suddenly and unexpectedly. We mourn but with hope because we know he is with the Lord.

David leaves behind his beloved wife Walia, daughter Dorothy, sons Joshua (Clara), Caleb (Julia) and Timothy (Eve); his grandchildren Sarah, Elijah, Michael, Evangeline, Alia and Isla; his brothers Danny (Helen) Lukita and James (Lucy) Lok, his sister May (David) Pun, and his brother-in-law Lim Soo Seng. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. He is predeceased by his parents Lok Ka Bek and Tan Hoei Eng and his sister Cathy Lim.
