Corrie was born in Amsterdam and was the 6th of 11 children, having 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She emigrated to Canada on June 18th, 1957 with her sister Hennie and Hennie’s two young daughters. She had planned to stay in Canada until Hennie was settled and loved living in Vancouver, so much she decided to stay. She found work at a bank and continued working in banking until her retirement due to a heart condition. Even though Corrie had medical problems, she always had a positive attitude and kept her great sense of humour.

Corrie’s dear friend Corrie Heijke joined her in Canada a year after her immigration & the 2 friends spent their lives living together and travelling the world. They bought their first house together on Jasper Crescent followed by a 2nd home on 53rd Avenue in Vancouver and finally their New West tower apartment. They also enjoyed having a bush house near Mount Baker which many friends and family visited over the 25-year period they owned it.

Their travels included many trips back to Holland and Europe plus Australia, New Zealand, Israel, all over America and several cruises.

Corrie loved to do crafts and knitted slippers and other items which she donated to St. Peter’s Catholic Women’s League.  She loved to play cards & was in several card clubs and also a Dutch speaking club where friends would meet for coffee and dessert and to only speak Dutch. She also enjoyed going to the  Casino to spend just $20, but usually came home with more.

Corrie leaves behind 8 brothers and sisters, 27 nieces and nephews & her best friend Corrie Heijke.

She will be missed by all.
