A passionate runner, Colin finished his last race with grace and strength.  After a lengthy journey, Colin passed away in Vancouver from Alzheimer’s-related complications.

Colin shared his life, laughter and love with his family - his wife of 46 years, Connie, his daughter, Nicole (Chris) and his son, Sean (Daria) as well as his grandsons, Ethan and Carter.  Colin was predeceased by his parents, Clarence Thomas (Mike) Mangan and Kathleen Anna (Kay) Mangan.  Colin was the oldest of three boys.  He is pre-deceased by his middle brother, Tom and survived by his youngest brother, Dan.

Born in Victoria, his upbringing was in Penticton, B.C. a home of fond memories.  He was in the Cadet Corps and service groups and was employed at the Super Value Store.  After graduating from U.B.C. he eventually became a Probation Officer and moved to the East Kootenays where for over 25 years he worked with people requiring his support in Fernie and Cranbrook.  He retired as District Supervisor of Youth Probation for the East/West Kootenays.  Colin valued his interaction with youth always believing in their futures and he found his career path gratifying.

In his twenties, Colin was nick-named “Bo Jangles” by his golf group.  He was called “Bo” until his passing.  Golf and running, along with skiing, swimming, hockey and many others sports were his way to enjoy good times with friends and unwind.  He valued the camaraderie that encompassed these activities and travelled to compete with several running teams.  He also enjoyed the symphony,  jazz, theatre and read extensively.

His Irish heritage was reflected in his appreciation of the beauty in the small things of life – the clouds where he could always see an image, trees, birds and finding pebbles on a beach where he could delineate a specific image.   Being outdoors brought him peace and he is at eternal peace now.

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

The rains fall soft upon your fields

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
