Two hours before the new year began, an angel fulfilled her mission on Earth and returned to Heaven. Our cherished Mamma left us peacefully surrounded by the family she dearly loved and dedicated her life to. Her outer beauty was only exceeded by her inner beauty, and she truly loved everyone with all her heart. Yes, she will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is now in a better place with family and friends that departed before her.

Our Mamma was predeceased by her second son Moreno in 1962, her loving husband Bernardo in 1972 and daughter-in-law Michelle in 2011. She leaves behind sons Giovanni (Renee), Sergio (Margherita), granddaughters Aurora (Jonathan), Erica, Kayla (Ryan), Amanda, and great grandchildren Olivia, Amelia, Paul, Carter, Riley, Peter, Shawn, and Aria.

Mamma had a humble youth in Northern Italy and like many Europeans at that time, eventually immigrated to Canada in search of a better life. She had little opportunity to pursue education, but always valued it and encouraged and supported its pursuit. Her talents were legendary, and she never ceased to amaze with her green thumb in her spectacular garden and the roses and flowers that adorned the family home, her cooking skills, and especially the magical manner in which she could knit or crochet virtual pieces of art all out of her head. Like many Mammas, she possessed a sixth sense and always knew exactly what her sons had been up to. She would also surprise you with highly astute comments that would come out of her beautiful lips in the course of conversation. Yes, we loved Mamma to infinity, just like her many friends, and anyone she would meet on the street and would come to know her.

Evening prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 9th at 7 PM, funeral mass at 10:30 AM on January 10th, both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 244 Lawrence Street, New Westminster. A reception will follow after the internment at Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster. All are welcome.
