Early on February 18, 2010, Cecilia Sothy passed on from this life with a radiant smile, seemingly entering into heaven. Cecilia, 72, was predeceased by her parents Harry and Agneta Wright and brothers Peter and Raymund Wright. Her life is lovingly treasured by her husband Stephen Sothy; daughters Liz (Gary) Gallian and Janet (Greg) Wolf; sons Joe (Connie) and John Sothy; grandchildren Carmen and Carson; sisters Josephine Wright, rscj, and Rosemary (Max) Anderson; brothers David (Antoinette) and Jim (Sylvia) Wright; sister-in-law Patricia Wright; many nephews, nieces, and grandnieces; and many others. Cecilia touched countless lives as the secretary at Sts. Peter and Paul parish and at Holy Rosary Cathedral before that, as well as in her volunteer work and all her giving of herself. Sister Jo, rscj, Cecilia’s older sister and principal hospice caregiver, was at Cecilia’s side when she took her last gentle breath, with cancer taking her body but not her spirit. Stephen and numerous family members had continually kept Cecilia company and assisted Sister Jo in the final months, and the home hospice nurses and other help were also amazing. Prayer service at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 1430 West 38th Ave., Vancouver. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Immaculate Conception Church, 3776 West 28th Ave., Vancouver. Interment at Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby. The family welcomes donations to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund in memory of Cecilia.
