Cecil John Bygrave, 97 years young, was called peacefully home to heaven on Christmas Day to be reunited with his parents, brother, wife and other loved ones who have waited so long for him. Survived by children Pam, Connie, Julie, Matt and Sean Bygrave, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Hamiota, MB, Cecil found his way west, settling in Vancouver as a young man. After serving 22 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, he began a new career with Canada Post before retiring to enjoy his gardens and homes in town and Birch Bay with his wife, Lee Bygrave, who passed away in 2001. Dad could fix anything. He had a playful sense of humour, was inquisitive and resourceful, but never did patent his “inventions” that were often engineered from wire coat hangers and old bleach bottles.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff of Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock Home Health and Kearney Funeral Services for their kind and compassionate care.
The family also hopes that Elma Genson, Cecil’s care-taker, feels comforted that the Lord will repay her for her service to our father.
Cecil will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
