It is with sadness but in celebration of a beautiful life that we announce the peaceful passing of Catherine Jennie Wilson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on Sunday, February 15th, 2015. She will be remembered with much love by her devoted husband of 59 years, Ian, her seven children and their spouses: Chris Wilson, Miriam and Tom Jones, Mary-Anne and Doug Beattie, Kevin and Patricia Wilson, Ian and Carol Wilson, Marilyn and Gareth Gammon, and Karen and Mike Piilo; and her grandchildren and their families:  Jessica, Alan, Avery and Tegan Kaarsemaker, Heather and Darren Chan, Alli and Chris McCaveney, Angela Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Diana Wilson, Kelcie Jones, Taylor Jones, Rhiannon Gammon, Elyse Gammon, Jennafer Wilson, Meaghan Wilson, Kevin Matthew Wilson, and Joshua Wilson, and Jennine, Aron, Kaylie and Aidan Laine, Kristen Beck, and Alycia Beck. Catherine was born in St. Paul, Alberta, the sixth of seven children. She trained as an RN at Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, and later moved to Vancouver, B.C. where she worked as a case room nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She met Ian and they were married on November 5, 1955 at Holy Name Church. They first lived in Vancouver and then moved to North Delta where they raised their family. Catherine worked until her retirement as an RN at Surrey Memorial Hospital. She will be remembered for her patient, warm, and loving nature, her devotion to her family and God, for her tremendous work ethic and her quiet sense of humour. The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful care teams at Fairview and Delta View Enrichment Centre for the gentle care and support they provided during the last years of her life. A Prayer Service for Catherine will be held on Thursday, February 19th, 2015, at 5:45 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in North Delta, where a Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, February 20th, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Burial at Gardens of Gethsemani at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Catherine.
