Brother Stan Racich, O.M.I. was born June 13, 1929 on the home farm in Sycamore, IL. USA, son of Mike (Milan) Racic (1891-1968) born in Croatia and Anna (Anka) Pesut (1896-1967) born in Croatia. He was the 10th of 13 children and is survived by one brother, James Racich and many nieces and nephews. Bro. Stan moved to Canada where he joined the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. He professed perpetual vows on March 19, 1977.
Bro. Stan’s obediences included assignments in Edmonton and St. Albert, AB and in BC – Vanderhoof, Chetwynd, Lillooet, Ucluelet, Cranbrook, Prince George and Vancouver. He served on various parish pastoral teams and enjoyed his specialty, carpentry and maintenance.
In Vancouver Bro Stan resided at Pandosy Place, West 8th Ave. & Maple Street. He eventually moved to Yaletown House for his health care in 2018 where he enjoyed living till he passed away peacefully on February 19, 2020 at the age of 90.

Prayer service will be held on Monday, February 24th, at 7:30 pm at St. Augustine’s Church, 2028 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver, BC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 25th at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at the Oblate Cemetery in Mission, BC.
