Brother Jerry Arthur Prazma, O.M.I. died peacefully on December 25, 2024, at Yaletown House, Vancouver, BC. He was 94.
Bro. Jerry was born October 2, 1930 in Grove Park, Saskatchewan. He took his First Vows on February 2, 1956, and Perpetual Vows in the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on February 2, 1964, in Ottawa, ON.
He is survived by his three brothers: James, Sylvester (Viviane), and Anthony (Jeanie-deceased) Prazma. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Rose (nee Martinosky) Prazma, and siblings, Frankie, Agnes, and Lydia.
During his 68 years of religious life, he ministered primarily in Western Canada in various capacities, most recently as the pastoral life-coordinator at Anahim Lake, in west-central British Columbia. His Obediences included assignments in Edmonton and St. Albert, AB; South Indian Lake, MB; Whitehorse, YT and in BC – Fort St. James, Kuper Island, Hazelton, Prince George, Dawson Creek, and Tofino. Upon his retirement in 2022, Bro. Jerry moved to The Crescent community in Vancouver, before transferring to Yaletown House.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, at 9:30 am at St. Augustine’s Church, 2028 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver, BC where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on the same day at 10:00 am.
