Brian was our own kind, gentle, reliable, friendly Cookie Monster. Missing his unfailing love and support are Adrienne, children Alison and Andrew (wife Sarah, grandchildren Shavonne, Felicity and Matthew), brother George and family. Predeceased by parents John (Jack) and Bea, and sister Arlene.
Brian graduated from King Edward High and UBC Forestry. He progressed from an energetic, enthusiastic Province paperboy, through Inventory Forester, Electoral Officer for Vancouver Quilchena and federally for Quadra. He was a Boy Scout, serving as Vancouver Coast Region President and Commissioner and with the Camp Byng gang. With the same unstinting effort and boundless enjoyment, he guided at VanDusen Botanical Garden and worked on the board and as President of the Association.
His own garden was his happy place, but he enjoyed travel to China, Mexico, Costa Rico, Tanzania, Europe, New Zealand and a cruise through the Northwest Passage. He skied at Apex, Silver Star and Whistler, maintained a cabin at Pender Harbour, and laboured at jamborees across Canada. Brian gave over 135 blood donations. He volunteered at our Olympics and Paralympics. No bucket list for Brian!
To honour Brian, do a good deed, give blood or have ice cream. Enjoy flowers in the garden.
Family and friends may gather at the Great Hall in VanDusen on October 28th, between 11 am and 3.
