Bohdan Karpinski passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2019, in Burnaby General Hospital at the age of 57, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Marusia and his children, Andrew and Roxolana. He is also remembered by his mother Paraskewia and late father Andrzej. His sister Ola and brother-in-law, Tadeush, their children, Ania(Hussain), Martyna, Robert, and grandniece Sophia. His mother-in-law, Anna Citulski and many more cousins, family members and friends.

Bohdan immigrated to Canada in 1985 in search of a better life and immediately felt at home when he began attending Saint Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vancouver. The parish holds a special place in the Karpinski family’s hearts, for it is where Bohdan and Marusia first met, were married and baptized both their children. Bohdan had a profound love for God and his faith which gave him strength, and a meaningful purpose. He was a family man who cared about the well-being of others and he would do anything for the ones he loved dearly.

Bohdan celebrated 30 years of work at BC Hydro this year. Like his family, Bohdan was devoted to his job and he cherished all the long lasting friendships he made along the way.

Prayers will be said at 7 pm Tuesday August 13th at St Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 560 W 14th ave. The funeral to follow on Wednesday, August 14th at 10 am. The family wishes to thank the staff of the palliative unit at Burnaby General Hospital for their excellent care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Children's Hospital and the BC Cancer Foundation.
