Betty Brown passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2024 at the age of 91.

A beloved wife, sister, aunt, friend, and godmother, she is predeceased by five of her siblings: Mary, Florence, Lawrence, Eugene, and Kenneth. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert (Bob), sister, Phyllis, sister-in-law, Shirley, numerous nieces and nephews, 18 godchildren, and many, many friends who, while not related by blood, she considered family.

A devout Catholic, hard worker, and generous giver, she worked for many years at The Bay downtown where she was the face of the Christmas Shop (broadcaster Mike McCardell called her “Mrs. Claus”). After retiring from The Bay, Betty continued to work and eventually joined the Robinson Lighting family where she worked until the age of 89".

Originally from the state of Illinois, she met the love of her life, Bob, on a blind date and the rest is, as you say, history.

Betty will be forever remembered for her boundless energy and generosity of spirit. She would never let you leave her home without a hug and care package (for the road).

Memorial Mass will be held May 10th at 3:00 pm at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby.

In lieu of flowers, to honour Betty’s generous spirit, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
