CARLSON, Barrie Stewart Arnold
June 29th, 1948 - February 3rd, 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Barrie, beloved husband of Ann Marie, father of Eileen (David) and Deanna, and proud grandfather of Emma and Zoe. Barrie was born during the flood of 1948 in New Westminster. He lived the greater part of his life in Burnaby, attending Edmonds, Moscrop, and Burnaby Central schools. A graduate of BCIT, Barrie joined BC Tel as an electronic technologist, retiring from Telus at the end of 2012. Soon after, he began his battle with MSA (Multiple System Atrophy), a degenerative condition that slowly limited his mobility. Barrie, Ann Marie, and their daughters loved to explore Canada’s rich history, traveling from coast to coast. An avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, Barrie was well-known for his love of dragons, which family and friends brought from all over the world. Barrie served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He is fondly remembered by family and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 5251 Joyce Street, Vancouver.
