Aurthur Owen Erwin, 89, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2021, in his home, surrounded by loved ones. Owen was born April 15, 1932, in Victoria BC to Ellen and Carl Erwin.

Owen is survived by his partner Purita Townsend, his eight children: Glynis Langford (Paul), Shaun White (Dave), Michael Erwin (Katie), David Erwin (Linda), Joanna Rasmussen, Chris Erwin, Paul Erwin and Beth Conner (Doug), as well as his fifteen grandchildren, Caitlin, Kelly, Megan, Ian, Ryan, Erica, Riley, Jamie, Kelsey, Piper, Charlotte, Georgia, Clara, Veronica and Abigail, and six great-grandchildren, along with his sister Florence and nephew Arthur (Val).

Owen lived a long life enjoying his many passions including his love of literature and the arts, working as a drama and English teacher until retirement, when he was able to explore the world, working as a travel agent. He directed many amazing plays and musicals in his role as a drama teacher and made time to attend as many events as possible, often with his children to celebrate these passions.

Later in life, he became involved with the Knights of Columbus, an association that brought him a great sense of community.

Owen's life will be celebrated on August 6th, 2021 with a viewing and prayers from 10:00am to 10:30am with the service immediately following from 11:00am to 12:00 noon at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 4925 Cambie Street Vancouver, BC, V5Z 2Z4. Masks are mandatory for attendance at this service.

A small reception in the Holy Name of Jesus Parish hall will follow for one hour. Due to COVID restrictions there is a maximum of 50 people at a time in the hall so we kindly request any condolences be passed on in a timely manner to allow for everyone who wishes to have the opportunity to do so.

The internment will follow at Gardens of Gethsemani, where Owen will be laid to rest.

Owen requested that all memorial donations please be made in his name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
