We are sad to announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father, Arthur John Jordan on Sunday, July 22. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth and his son, Tristan, mother Marge Jordan in Nashua, N.H., and sister, Janet Glidden (Jeff) in Foxborough, Mass. John was born in Yonkers, N.Y. on December 15, 1946. After graduating from the University of Maine with a PH.D. in Biological Oceanography he served as Chief Scientist at Palmer Station on Anvers Island in the Antarctic on the RV Hero for the 1973 season. He worked as an environmental consultant on projects all over the world. His greatest pride was finding the honest balance between two competing needs; that of maintaining the quality of the environment, while also providing for necessary human development. John also served two terms as Municipal Councillor in the Village of Lions Bay during which he played an active role in the Fire Department and Emergency Services. John was the Manager of Environmental Services for the Port of Vancouver for many years. He believed in honesty as a moral imperative in all aspects of his life. This is what made John the person he was. John is already greatly missed. He was a wonderful husband and father. A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in John’s name to either the B.C. Children’s Hospital or the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
