It is with is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio Angelo D’Amici. Surrounded by his loving family, Antonio (Tony) passed away peacefully in Burnaby, BC on January 21, 2023.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife Rita; his children Marco (Debbie) and Cinzia (Vito), his grandchildren Matteo, Daniella, Emily and Olivia and his brother Giuseppe. Predeceased by his parents, Dometilla and Pietro, brothers Antonino, Antonuccio and sisters Marianina and Maria. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Born on January 13, 1934, in Pofi, Frosinone, Italy, he grew up learning the trade of a tailor. In his late teens, after his time in the military, he ventured on to Rome to serve as a police officer and thereafter met the love of his life, Rita. Tony immigrated to Canada in 1962 and married Rita in Timmins, Ontario. They moved to Vancouver in 1963 and soon came their children, Marco and Cinzia.
Tony was an accomplished man, from his years as a tailor and manager at Drapeshire Clothing, to a home-building business with his two brothers and finally as a dry cleaner owner until he retired.
He greatly enjoyed and took pride in everything he did, from his immaculate home and garden to his devotion to his family. Walks to the park and playtime in the backyard filled so many of his days and created many wonderful memories; his grandchildren truly were his pride and joy.
Tony could often be found on his street, talking to neighbours and to people passing by, posing by his fountain and often handing out roses from his rose garden. He touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life.
Tony will always be remembered for his laughter and jokes, he always loved a good prank especially when he was on the receiving end. His legacy of living life with laughter and happiness will continue on through his family and anyone who was lucky enough to know him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30th, 2023, at Kearney Burnaby Chapel at 4715 Hastings Street, Burnaby from 6:30 – 8:00PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 525 S. Slocan Street, Vancouver at 11:00AM. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park – Grand Mausoleum.
