It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mom at age 85.

Mom was born in Denmark but lived in the Vancouver area for over 50 years. She was proud of her Danish heritage and finally became a Canadian citizen in 2014. Ann was predeceased by her husband (and our dad) Roy in 2009. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Sandra (James), Jay (Kylie), grandson Cole, and many friends, all of whom she cherished deeply.

Mom will always be remembered for her warmth, positive attitude, and kindness. She was a great listener (and talker!), quick-witted, and was always there for anyone who needed her. She was funny, genuine, and known to make friends easily wherever she went. Whether it was lifelong friends or relatively new ones, she had a natural way of putting others at ease and was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed participating in outings with the local seniors centre, yoga and fitness classes, or simply shopping and lunch dates with friends. She cherished time spent with family and spent many happy afternoons with her grandson who adored her.

Although her family tried to encourage her, she was never interested in learning how the internet worked and managed to get through life quite capably without owning a smartphone. Rather, she preferred looking at paper maps and bus schedules and going to the bank in person. She was an avid reader and was well known by the staff at the library and other local shops which provided a great sense of community and opportunities for socializing. She brought warmth and light to the lives of so many and her absence is, and always will be, felt deeply within our hearts.

Mom also enjoyed volunteering with local charities to support animal welfare. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA or charity of your choice.
