It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Anne Teresa MacLean at home on October 19th, 2023, just weeks shy of her 92nd birthday. Anne leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and warmth that will forever be etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Born in Struan, Saskatchewan, Anne, the eldest of nine children, embraced her role as a caring big sister. Her compassionate spirit led her into a fulfilling career as a nurse, where she trained at the Royal Columbian Hospital. In 1954, she married Russell, and together they joyfully welcomed twins Cathy and Russell, the true delights of her life. As a mother, Anne imparted the deep sense of how special and loved her children were to her.
Reflecting her nurturing spirit, Anne's children reciprocated her care, especially in her later years. Her remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued, regardless of their acquaintance, stands as a lasting testament to the profound impact she had on others.
Anne's lifetime of caring included dedicated service for Dr. V W Pepper's practice as his nurse for over 30 years. Actively involved in her New Westminster community, she participated in the PTA, Kinettes, Kiwanis, and Rotary clubs. When not working or volunteering her time, Anne's home was always open to those around her. A lover of bridge and entertaining, she created an atmosphere of joy, warmth and camaraderie.
Family was everything to Anne. As a proud Grammie, she was the biggest supporter and cheerleader for her five grandchildren, where her genuine excitement of them reinforced her unconditional love.
Anne is predeceased by her loving husband Russell (2001), brothers Ernie and Moaris, and sister Lil, she is survived by her "twins": daughter Cathy (David Snook) and son Russell (Denise). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Sarah, Jonathan (Fa), Amy (Tristan), Carly, and Alissa (Jorden)—as well as great-grandchildren Jude, Lennox, and Neve. Anne is also survived by her sisters Irene (Gordon), Stephanie (Bill), Elsie (Sandy), Emilie (Heinz), Marlene (Dave), and numerous loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Anne's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
A Celebration of Life in her honor will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, at the Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia Street, New Westminster, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
