Our beloved Aunt Mary having just celebrated her 98th birthday on June 11th, passed away peacefully at Blenheim Lodge in Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband Norman Barton, sister, Barbara Kershaw and brother, Bill Moresby. She will be greatly missed by her niece Cathy Kershaw of Vancouver, her nephew Bill Kershaw and her niece Liz (Jim) Holleran of Toronto.
Mary was fond of her relatives: Helen Gowan of Salmon Arm, Bern Frasson (Ena) from Westport, Ontario and Nan Frasson (Ray) of Kingston, Ontario. Predeceased by Jody (Joe) Frasson of Victoria, B.C. She kept in touch with many relatives and friends in Australia, Canada, and the UK and USA.
Mary was born in Victoria B.C. Her father, was a lawyer William C. Moresby QC and mother Anne was a nurse. Mary assisted her father in his law office in her early twenties and later worked for Canada Trust for over 25 years. She became reacquainted with Norman later in life who had been a family friend from years ago. They quickly fell in love. She retired from Canada Trust and married in 1978 and moved to Vancouver to live with Norman. Mary had eleven happy years with Norman until he passed away.
She will be remembered for her beautiful garden she kept on West 11th Ave. Mary loved to cook and entertain friends and relatives. Neighbours missed Mary when she sold her home in 2010 and moved to Amica retirement facility in Arbutus Village. Amica became her new home where she enjoyed the music and entertainment provided. When she needed more care she moved to Blenheim Lodge in 2016. Several friends visited Mary and wrote cards and letters to her while she was at Blenheim Lodge. Our family thanks you for your wonderful friendship to Mary. We would also like to thank Blenheim Lodge for the support and care they gave Mary for the last four years of her life.
