CLARKE, Anita Grace

With sadness the family announces that Anita Grace Clarke (nee Chisholm) born on July 25, 1927 in Kimberley BC, passed away suddenly on November 23, 2018 at Delta Hospital surrounded by family. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred (2011), son Duncan Gerard (1958), her parents Duncan and Genevieve (Cosgriff) Chisholm and her brother Father Bob Chisholm (CSB).

Survived by her children Tom (Lilian), Mary Anne, Nancy (Adrian) and Janet, 9 grandchildren Elizabeth (Aaron), Mike (Sarah), Katie, Dave, Bernice, Grace, Nikoda, Patrick and Joseph, and 6 great grandchildren Bowen, Cedar, Connor, Logan, Tyler, Tecumseh and Kateri coming in early 2019. She is also survived by her brothers Don and Tom (Bernie) and many nieces and nephews. Anita also has many Clarke in-laws and nieces and nephews

Anita moved to Vancouver when she was 6 years old, attended St Patrick’s Elementary
School before moving to Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Elementary School where she would meet her future husband Alfred in Grade 2. She graduated from St Patrick’s High School and went on to UBC where she graduated with her degrees in the Arts and Social Work. She worked for nine years at Riverview Hospital before marrying and raising her children.

Anita devoted her life to the Roman Catholic Church at OLPH in multiple ways including constant prayers, especially to Sts. Mary and Joseph. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League her entire life, including being President. For decades she could always be found volunteering in preparing for the school bingos, providing refreshments at funerals, and in the Eucharistic Ministry.

Even though her independence was taken away with her broken leg in 2016, she maintained as much independence as she could. Special thanks to her caregivers who took great care of her, tending to her needs so sensitively, many who became honorary members of her family.
We invite everyone to come join us in celebrating Mom, whose love is living on throughout her family, friends.

Prayers will be offered at 7pm on Monday December 10th, 2018 and Funeral Mass is at 11am on Tuesday December 11th. Both services are at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 2465 Crown St, Vancouver BC.

Following cremation, interment will be at Garden of Gethsemani on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at 11:00am.
